So I need a layup. Gerr gives 38oz outside of ⅝ planking. 24oz inside. IIRC. But nothing else. In the absence of better data, 2 layers of biax outside, plus dynel. 2 layers of lighter biax inside, to those weights. In epoxy, obviously. If that sounds stupidly off, please tell me. Publicly is fine. All the corner of my teeth got broke off years ago. There's no ego in this for me.

Planking the sides is a lot faster and easier. Number 2 shows just how crowded the shop is.

Be a great time to have it on wheels.
Although, I suspect that week of beautiful weather is over.
You're going to have to wheel it out anyway, eventually.
Maybe get that set up sooner than later?

If anything, you're going to be under 5/8" after all your fairing and shrinkage.

What would be a nominal thickness once fair, 9/16, 1/2"?

What does Gerr say about 1/2" planking thickness for lay-up?

    The same?

He would certainly want thicker lay-up. Although I have one more bulkhead than he calls for. But I think I'm going to be obliged to fair by adding epoxy with microballoons, more than by sanding and planing. Good thing I'm an even better drywall finisher than I an carpenter.

    That makes no sense.
You're already sizably over on your plank thickness AND you've got extra bulkheads AND you're putting on bullet proof epoxy/fiber/Dynel.
AND you have a new planer!
Remove wood, make it fair, stronger and lighter.
Don't add goo just to sand it off.

The day's work. Well, and rebuilding another skillsaw.

My concern is that Gerr calls for ⅝ plus glass. My wood has dried down to ½ in places.

Wait a minute, I thought he called for 1/2" and you were 9/16 - 5/8 before shrinkage.

Not much to report. Putting on planks, evenings and weekends. Like I have been for the last 2 months. Yawn. 20200328_192158.jpg 20200328_192057.jpg
