I'm getting ready to glue the (planking) side panels to the transoms and the bottom panels (per plans). First question is about "how to install the floor timbers". Timbers need to be glued and screwed to the keelson and screwed through the bottom planking into the floor timbers (look at pic). Big Ben floor timbers.jpg Am I to crawl under boat to fasten timbers to the keelson then screw through the planking prior to epoxy. OR am I to flip the boat twice ? Also wondering if screws are necessary if the timbers are epoxied to the bottom planking ? I could screw through the side planking (just a thought)

Another question concerning the floor. I am going to use 1x6 cedar, Is 24"oc is to much span, Thoughts please ? and would you make the floor level or follow the boat curvature ?

    Last question (for now).
Am going to need running strakes, if so how long, what shape and placement ? BB Transom view.jpg Big ben front view.jpg
    Thanks in advance

    I have the plans.
Designer says 4 shoes 1.5 deep with metal. Seems like much to me (I'm no expert though)
    1x3 for frames.
The picture I sent is the only info on frame installation.
After filleting the chine I'm thinking to glue and screw to keelson and just gluing to floor and side. I may put a screw in through the side

I tried to contact designer Wed., I haven't heard back yet.

Why do you need running strakes? Are they in the plans or is this your modification?

It should have read " Am I going to need running strakes"
Plan calls for 4 approximately 13' long. I didn't think I would need that much unless it's for extra rigidity.
    Hope to hear from Hylan

    Thanks.
If its for protection would you reccomend something on the keel.
I'll also wait to hear from Hylan this week.
Lots of rain coming my way anyway.

Just a follow up on my build. It's been a wet year so progress is moving along slowly. 20200216_180143.jpg hull epoxy saturated
20200310_205208.jpg glassed and taped. Spray rails and strakes added
20200329_122408.jpg 2nd coat epoxy and graphite

    Hoping to flip it soon
