Good work John, it's looking fantastic despite some stumbling blocks.
Speaking of which, I really don't like the idea of introducing ply into a strip hull.
Would you consider two layers 5/16'" x 3/4" strips, staggering the seams of course?

I'll be adding chine logs, running full sized planks, and letting them find their own lay. Then they should not break. An extra step I'd planned on avoiding, but necessary.

Chine logs. Or rather, the first lamination. Took some looking to find this clear stuff. Bent nicely enough though.

    Final lamination on chine logs.
Finally dealt with issue at B4.
Sprung some battens at the non tripping chine where I was breaking planks. Seems good now.
I can tell I'm rusty. Last boat was an LF Herrishoff double ended ketch. Classic carvel construction. But I finished it in 1992. That's long enough to get rusty. (Also long enough to lose my hair, and gain a pot belly).

Anyone anywhere near Vancouver BC is invited.

Heck. Everyone everywhere. But for Mr Efficiency in Australia, bit of a trip.

Today's stopping point. And those are my work boots. All 235# of my carpenter self.

Going to run those chine logs to the transom.

+1 - she is really coming on nicely.

Have you managed to resolve the issue with the amount of twist in the planks?
And are you edge gluing the planks to each other and to the frames?
If yes, what glue are you using?

I'm using large amounts of PL premium, plank to plank, and plank to frame or bulkhead. Enough to squeeze out so I don't leave voids I have to carve away the excess each time I start over.

The chine logs will solve the problem. The planks can handle the rotation, if I don't also try to force them to run straight. So with the chine logs I can let them run off the edge as they will, then plane them back. Harder than liquid joinery, but better than exploding planks.

Thank you Mr. Efficiency. She's looking boat shaped, but I lost too much time fussing over an inboard engine layout, then another month sick. 5 months left on my use of the space. Better keep up the pace.

The back dive platform will be 4" by 10' by 20", or 1.22m by 3m, by .5m I could probably fit an entire engine system in there, fuel and all.
