Use of ISO 12215-5 for HDPE hulls

    The question is whether the design pressures and formulas of ISO 12215-5 could be applicable to the scantling of HDPE hulls. What do you think and why? If so, what should be taken into account and what adjustments or modifications would be necessary? . To what other materials could the same procedure be applied?. Thank you very much in advance.

    Of course.
    A design pressure is merely that. Its derivation, to be used later for scantling calc's, is not dependent upon hull material at all.
    What you don't have is how to determine the minimum scantlings using said design pressure, with HDPE. That is a totally seperate question.

    Well, now that we know the easiest, it would be necessary to determine which maximum permissible stresses would have to be applied, maximum permissible deformations or any other element that allows checking whether the scantlings of a panel or of a stiffener are adequate.
    Any real help on that?
