Gene-Hull version for Catamaran

    Following the kind interest of few users, I have developed a full version of Gene-Hull dedicated to the Catamaran configuration. Here attached is the spreadsheet application (ods. file that can be opened with either Open office or Libre office), the User guide and one example.

    Thanks to remarks received from Users, here attached a slight revision 2,41 , with corrections concerning the output data provided in sections 5,1, 5,4, 5,5 and 5,6 (the data gather to favor a transfer to a 3D modeller), in particular adding the C9,5 data so to provide more data density in the bow zone and so avoiding that the splines of the 3D tools creates undulation.

    Here is another slight revision (minor corrections in the computations for 6. "Hydrostatics of the heeled catamaran"), leading to the version 2,42 attached.
    I am also investigating about the drag components for such multihull in vew a future VPP sheet connected to Gene-Hull, here also attached is my progress regarding the residuary drag.

    Thank you Richard for this nice message, that really encourages me in this kind of development.

    Here is another light revision 2,43 >> minor corrections in « buttock lines »and « floatation lines with heel » computation, to avoid bugs in some cases. No change of the user interfaces, you have just to copy/paste your input in the new version.

    Also in complement for the residuary drag estimation detailed in my previous quote#3, here is the sources and the data behind the proposed figures (document in .ods and .pdf formats)

    Dolfiman, You have done an awesom amount of work on this. Ive played around with the spreadsheet for a whule, read part of the instructional pdf and winged the rest. My question is,c ould this be used for a power catamaran Hull deign? Ive tried to get the Hulls looking how I think it should, but The spread sheet doesnt seem to want to make the data for the CAD files. of course, I havent put that much work into yet, but thought I would ask if you think this could be used for making a power boat? Thanks Ben

    Thanks for your interest and use of Gene-Hul.
    Yes, I think Gene-Hull as it is can be helpful for a power catamaran : for example, you can put very small values (like 0,01 ...) for the rudders, daggerboards, rig, sailplan and corresponding weight input. I will plan to do a version dedicated to motor catamaran.
    The geometrical output data are gathered in section 5. in the Gene-Hull sheet : 5.1 gives the offsets, i.e. the y,z for sections positioned at x. 5.4 gives the x,z of the keel line, 5.5 gives the x,y,z of the hard Chine line (if any) and of the sheer line. You can copy/paste these data to enter as input in your 3D software tool.
