    hi,

Wondering what suitable alternatives there is to duratec primer?

My mould has quite a few star cracks on it so planning on flattening it all down and painting it with duratec. Are there any alternatives I should be considering?

There aren’t many other products designed to do the same thing, there are some that can work, but they typically require more time and effort.

Which Duratec product did you plan to use?

Star cracks as usually caused by impact. Don't beat on the mold with a metal hammer to release the part.

Duracoat VE Topcoat is good for mold refinishing. It is air cure with a high HDT.

Cracks should be ground out and puttied with vinylester putty. The Duratec 1804-007 mold repair putty is very good. Adtech P17 SCMR is my usual go-to. Duratec mold repair putty can be tinted with a little tooling gel, and the repair does not require spraying. You can sand and polish the putty up to a high shine, wax it, and good to go.
