    Is there any interest in this still? I've been designing a 43' performance cruising cat that can be flat panel cut on a CNC. Like the original post my plan is to build a model first. I should have my 1:20 scale RC model water ready in about a week. I vacuum bagged the flat panels and CNC cut them on CNC machine I built.

    My original thinking was to creative commons the plans. I have done lots or research and analysis of similar boats, but I'm not a engineer or naval architect so I still will need some help with the validating my calculations and get the plans engineered for the laminate schedule etc. before I would consider building it full size. I'm not really looking for a business venture, but happy to share my work. Not wanting to insult anyone, but I would also love to talk to a experienced Naval Architect and/or Engineer that wants to contribute to the project for not too much money.

    In the document you posted I am unclear on the terminology.
    On the topic of cost estimation it says;
    "
    LDR is included in estimation, because building a lighter boat needs more time and the materials
    are more expensive. In general the building time and cost are proportional to the mass of the boat
    mLCC.
    "

    Can you please clarify what the abbreviation LDR refers to?

    Thanks.

    From the context, I assume he is talking about Length to Displacement Ratio or LDR

    Also for Pavo1991 the design I'm working would not work in steel and has a fairly limited carrying capacity, as that is a trade off for sailing performance.

    I finished my first model and there is a youtube video for it. I'm already starting on the second model with some improvements.

    Thanks sailhawaii
    That will be fun trying to figure out as I am trying a completely new concept ;)
    Will soon start building a precise model 1:10 of the concept I am working on.
    Who know's, might float or sink, we'll see.
