To make it easier, describe your skill level and experience with materials, your budget.... and how long/ time frames you expect to stay on the boat. How long you plan to be building, your workspace, and what you expect from resale/ how long will you own it... roughly..Oh and where is it going to live, marina, mooring, on the dry, in a shed ?

First Rwatson no clue what your talking about.

    I have composite experience
The boat will be used as a live aboard,
    Traveling camping Tri.
Not worried about huge interior room.
    Two single berths is fine
Workspace is not a problem as I have land and will build a shed...most likely a tube frame.
    Resell not important to me
    10 years plus ownership
Once I buy plans, build will start early spring 2020
I’ll Work on the shed between now and then
Doing all the work myself over a year, full time.

    Newick Spark Trimaran
The little mast on the stern ( Mizzen Mast )

Why would a performance Tri this short have a second mast ??

Here is one of your post from 2014...

am just adding this French Amphibious Beach Catamaran because not only has it solved the rudder steering problem, but also the skeg/leeway problem.
It might inspire a few ideas. Cata Kite, or Sea Quad is a French design

I’m quite sure you know more about the mizzen then I... why you trolling me

    I like the newick spark

I’m seeking other design options, my thinking is if I’m going to build a tri around 30’
Maybe I should choose a modern design.
Which I clearly stated in the original question, not sure how we got on mizzen sail...

I like the mizzen for a stay sail option
I like the split sails for down wind
    Mizzen for self steer
    Dingy hoist
I like the curved floats for the smoother ride it’s reported to offer
I like the twin mast for hanging a hammock or tent
    When on the hook

I’m Seeking a world crushing tri plan around 30’

If anyone has a link to a well respected design
    Thanks

explain how to improve this sail design, offering
Close to modern square top sail and wing mast
Performance, while keeping the split wing
Option for downwind... then I’ll be impressed

Ljungström Is what’s on the spark (modification by newick)

I'd build a Newick..ha, a Val but take ideas from mocking bird, and just buy a mast because it's going to be a busy year. I should qualify this with ; I'm a backyard novice who can afford one twentieth of what you're prepared to spend, but look at it , it's a jewel, and no doubt it would sail like it too...but those floats could have more angle/ camber to my eye and could be a little deeper maybe, but it's a Newick would you change anything..? I'd add a bimini that followed the beams that carry the arch where the beam flattens out, but I'm biased and probably would restore a good Val,and I own a Tremolino

I have NO idea why you included my previous post - its nothing to do with my simple question.

I am NOT trolling you, I asked one simple question that you didn't understand,, and suddenly I'm "trolling" you?

The question I asked is why would you want a second mast? You obviously have never sailed with one, or the significance would be obvious.
They might solve some problems for traditional boats, but for a modern, high-performance Tri, they are just a plain nuisance.

Don't overthink it - just think about why you would want to put up with such an anachronistic design "feature".

I am having trouble with your thread title "World crushing-Fast-under 30' tri". If there is no mistake and you want a "world crushing fast" boat then you need to look at foils, because today really fast means foils, anything else is slow.
If you wanted to write "World cruising -Fast-under 30' tri" you are fresh out of luck. Nothing under 30 is a world cruiser. You may do long passages, even crossing oceans, on such a boat by beeing hard core minimalistic, but you have to be a special breed of sailor for that.

However it is, crushing or cruising your chosen model has nothing to do with either. The Spark is a weekender with a go easy rig. A good boat for what it was designed to do, but it was not intended for cruising or to be crushing fast.

At a stated budget of 100 000USD I don't get the need to build. A F-82R fits the budget including any upgrades you may want.
I would see a need to build only if you wanted a crushing fast world cruiser under 30, in wich case the budget is to low.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I’m Going to stick with the Spark.

Johnstone “the boat on a reach is magical”
Boat with him on the helm did 18 knots,

That’s enough for me. I’ll research mast and rigs much more.

    Thanks all
