Motor boat - 460 TC

Hi

I am currently working on a project of small 15FT motor boat. This is work in progress project. Boat might be used as a fishing boat or a day boat. Max engine 50 Hp. Please comment.

update: Yes, the bow might be a bit fine for a 15' boat. A 200 lb person at the bow could get a wet ride.

 

Do you have a drawing showing the full lines ? Hard to comment otherwise, but my first impression is that in the bows dip into a wave, everyone will get a bath.

Thank you for your feedback. Boat is based on boats which already exist, therefore regulations shouldn't be a problem. Of courese when concept phase will be finisched I will scan the boat according to regulations. In general the boat is intended for lakes, rivers and canals so there will be no big waves. Below are some more drawings of the hull. Deadrise of the hull is appox 16 deg.

 

Please show us a plan view (top view) of the boat. If I interpret the section views correctly, the transom bottom transitions to flat and is very narrow for a planing boat.

 

The plumb bow is selected for what reason ?

 

Here is the top view. Regarding the bow shape it is more a design feature. I have never seen a small boat with that kind of bow shape.

 

Are the boats that this design is based upon:
(1) larger or smaller?
(2) Your design?

And yes, for a 15' boat the bow does look a bit fine... and the stern looks a bit 'broad': The hull 'plan view' is 'wedge' shaped and could be prone to 'broaching to' which can be unpleasant or sometimes dangerous

 

General concept design and lines are based on bigger boats. Yes this is 100% my design. That is the whole idea to implement this DNA of bigger boats into smaller boat. The "V" of the hull is 16 deg. deadrise so is not so deep. There are simillar boats with this angle on the market. My idea was to have this wedge shape design. I want this boat to have also some sporty feeling while driving so that is why I made the hull in sharp lines.
