So many opinions...what paint?

I just don't see it working but I am a technical neanderthal so I would consult EMC. They will let you know if it is feasible.

Paints are not good water barriers, that’s why they aren’t recommended for below the waterline applications.

 

Another issue.

Frequently the chemistry of epoxy and other products (paints and resins) are not compatible unless they are fully cured. So applying epoxy to a not fully cured paint may retard the cure of the epoxy. Then, if you wait for the paint to be fully cured you’re relying on the epoxy bonding to an unprepared surface.

There are products designed to be used in this manner, and people do it everyday, might be easier to go that route.

 

Anyone ever use Nason Ful-thane 2K?

Some pro painters are gonna bid my boat sprayed with it.

But never heard of it on a boat.

I might make them use my choice of paint.

 

It is a great product. Many boats are painted with it. Especially if located inland where "marine" stuff is hard to find. Nasson is marketed to the auto body industry. Greater competition in a larger market keeps the price low.

I have used it frequently. It. like all paints, suffers from dock rash.

 

People say epifanes is very hard as a slow cure. Any 'hard' data.

 

I don't have any technical data sheets for it currently at my disposal.

It was the go to paint at a former shop. Partly because it was a quarter of the cost of Stirling or AwlGrip. Mostly because it was always in stock and could be tinted to any color by a retailer 6 blocks away.

It touches up quite well. Even gloss black. One customer felt emasculated if his truck had mud flaps and could not start or stop without tire squeel. Even in our gravel lot. He only boated on the three day weekends and I spent the next week touching up the shotgun blasted bow.
