Is that a lamp, and if so, why is it looking sideways, and does it also have a back door . . ?

All those cats look stray and pretty high to me, so I'd say Stray Cats - Mystery Train Kept A Rollin'

It is a lighted number board on the side of the head light. However no numbers, just a cat. The cover is usually the only way in and out. The cover must be open on the opposite side.

Krusenstern built as Padua in 1926 as the last of the Flying P-Liners, and the only one still in sailing service today, her sister Passat is a youth hostel nowadays...

Never get lost again, paint the map of the waters you're visiting on the bottom covering panels, found in an ad, the map is the south west of Friesland . . .

She was in 1974 built by Bein Brandsma on his Yard at the Reahel* in Augustinusga, Friesland, the Netherlands, below a cabin scow built by Bein and his team in 1975...

Note also the Brandsma Fries jacht built, and the Logger of 36 tons, all quite different from each other and from the two scows in post #8473 & #8475.

The below 1980 built, and as far as I can see from the pictures well maintained, double ended Brandsma motorsailer is on the market for five years or longer by now I think - link - link - seems like nobody wants a second hand wooden boat nowadays, she switched from broker over the years a few times, and doesn't look like overpriced to me...

RAF pigeon story is fascinating! The items following are also of great interest.

Tornio and the Torne River in north east Sápmi showed up on the thread 1811 Lapland Canoe, links to books with great ancient pics there, also more extreme wide bow human powered canoes going up grand rapids info wanted on the thread . . :)

    P.S. —

Also Enontekiö and Lake Kilpisjärvi showed up on the ancient Sápmi canoe thread, every place with about 500 or a little more human mortal souls who live their mortal coil there seems to have a church nowadays...

Posted at the previous post #8481 top the village of Tornio, a cross Finnish-Swedish border twin city with Haparanda, they're north Fennoscandia sisters cities so to say, separated (summer shot at the moment of posting) by the south end of the Torne border river, at the north end of the Gulf of Bothnia...
