    cheers for the info.

so i could easily make my own type of seacast.

all the required materials i can get locally so may give it a go some time.

thanks again for the info Sam

You should look specifically at casting resins which have slow setting times but the exotherm does not generate too much heat. One potential problem with heat is the expansion of the material when curing then shrinking quite a bit later. I have some clear epoxy resins for encasing and there are polyester versions around too. As long as you can allow more set time, it is not an issue.

Try Scott Bader if you need advice on resin suitability.

Did you notice this on the Arjey site? This tells you how it can be done on a production basis.

I would look at using SpaceAge Thermo-Lite Board. It is similar to Coosa in terms of the foam and fiberglass but much better quality, consistency and service.

Really, you've joined today and dropped 6 nearly identical plugs for "Thermo-Lite", but the site has no real data other than it being a 9 pound urethane foam. How about some pricing compaired to similar core products. Lastly, how can you compare a foam core product with Coosa?

I simply used a very high density foam... 350kg/m3. it's expensive but it's as simple as plywood... in reality you probably only the need the high density stuff in parts of the transom, the rest could be done with typical hull boat building densities which means you don't need much of the expensive stuff... I know of some pro builders doing this in their ski race boats with big outboards, no problems...

fully agree with Groper, switch to close cell foam instead of using ply, and use hign density foam at local area. visit www.diabgroup.com they have worldwide technical support engineer to help you out.

Hi. I Have a 28ft Bayliner 2855. I used Sea Cast and it worked out great. I went over every option I could find for months and months. There are many ways to skin this cat. I like Sea Cast for several reasons. It had The best durability properties and was permanent. Its just too easy to get wood wet for me to justify putting it back in. But I think any method would have worked. I have a V8 with an Alpha outdrive as well. I just had to figure out a way to pour the sea cast into my boat. I made a video about it. It wasn't bad to do at all. Just required some thought. I think it was well worth it. I hope this will help you out and any others reading this post. I loved the results.
