    Hi

I want to try and build a new rudder for a 28ft sailboat. Current rudder has core damage and delamination - not too hard to fix, probably will fix it but I thought I will try to make a better rudder than the stock one.

Current rudder is very fat - about +5mm extra material on rudder tube, made of glassfiber and polyester resin.

So idea is that i would like to use carbon rudder post and laminate the external skin in contact with that so essentially the rudder could be more than 10 - 15mm thinner.

Is there a good guide on building a quality rudder and choosing the right naca type?
