this piece was at one time attached to my vessel, unsure what it's function is.

I'll look real close at the window where I think it belongs it appears to be
    a sliding window lock?
    Thanks TB

Yes. The two prongs fit into slots securing it to the window's frame, while the spring loaded pin engages a hole on the slider.

So I guessed correct, so my vessel should have one for each slider.

The cabin door has a lock so that would take some B&E skills.

I've always thought that scumbags staying at same hotel as me would lift the little kid high enought for it to squeeze though the window to steal all my stowed stuff.

I like locks to slow the stealing a little what is this piece referred to as would like to order another.
I'd also like a simply burglar alarm onboard.
    Thanks TB

A basic cheap auto motion alarm could be hooked up. It might not have an infinite lifespan. Amazon has a marinized alarm for about $100. For more money there are models which are GPS enabled and will phone home if activated.

Your window lock might be harder to track down.

The quickest, easiest sliding window lock is a short piece of dowel that just fits in the aluminium "groove" that the window slides along.
It stops the window from moving more than half an inch when the "stick" is cut to the right length.

    eg.
