Shallow draft, wide beam, sailboat design. Comments good or bad welcome

    @philSweet : Thank you for your comments. You are mostly right on everything!!!

    I know that I am stretching beam and draft to the extreme. That is a challenge but this is what I want to do coastal cruising and lake sailing.

    For the centerboard arrangement try to look at what POGO 30 sailboat do for their keel/ centerboard arrangment lifting mechanism and you will get about what I have in mind. Except that my centerboard will be alot lighter than their keel and my boats will alot slower!

    This is my Cox's Bay Skimmer 5.5 x 2.25 metres with T rudder and T daggerboard and rotating small chord wing masts. You could build a larger version. Boat is fast, goes to windward very skimmerbuildy.jpg skimmer smallchortmasts.jpg well and lifts off on reaches.
