    I'll give that idea the shove!! Just non-skid all over. There's no much in the way of glossy gel coat on the yacht anyway

    The raised edges is a good idea as it provides stiffness for the edge - which can get a bit bendy without that extra thickness - and also to keep water from falling off all around the edges when it rains. Instead the water can be directed to a convenient point to run off where it wont land on your lap or wet your things in the cockpit, or it can be collected and make use of it as a rain catcher. Most schionnings and similar modern duflex designs do this btw... Simply double up the core around the edge or use bit of scrap panel to build it up and then fair it out with a cove of bog...

    You will need some edge treatment. The idea of directing water off the top is good and you ought to be thinking it through. I am not familiar with the core enough to advise, but never been a fan of decoring. I'd rather apply something to the edge and here it might be wise and you could gutter into a bucket or over.
