I will probably never become a live aboard like so many people because in most of the video's I watch they eat pasta  And fish.
You don't see the kids with peanut butter and syrup bread, or even scrambled eggs. Not sure if eggs on a boat thing is still a superstition among sailors.
    Just wanted to say.

Pasta on the Boat | The Boat Galley https://theboatgalley.com/pasta-on-the-boat/

There is a joke about the girl asking her mother why she breaks the spaghetti in three when she cooks it. Mother doesn't know why, but tells her daughter that's how it's done and that is how grandmother did it.
Dissatisfied with the answer the girl goes to her grandmother and ask her why the spaghetti gets broken into three pieces.
Grandmother says Good grief, don't tell my your mother still uses that stupid small pot...

Ok let me make a positive contribution to cooking aboard. Old technology (by now) but new application.
Just google solar vacuum tube cooker and look at the images.
I don't know how much sun there is in other countries, but I'm sure as long as long as Theresa Mae and Merkel is there then England and Germany will remain cloud covered.
For the rest  such a device on a boat is a bargain if there is sun.
It is not direction sensitive, and you can even bake bread in it.
I have cooked whole meals in it, baked rusks and dried them.
I've been trying for some years now to get a few of the larger tubes from China (~150mm dia x 600mm to 700mm) but it is hopeless. They want me to buy $1m at a time or at least take one container full.

It may be that the real reason that the mother breaks the spaghetti into three pieces is because it's "impossible" to break spaghetti into two pieces. :)

This spaghetti-breaking problem stumped physicist Richard Feynman. Two MIT students have now solved it. | Washington Post
