I am getting ready to tint some white Barrier Coat (total boat) and paint some glassed H60 with it. Just a small 2'x2' as a test piece.

I'm wanting to see if it will work as a topcoat on a small boat I am building.

    Thoughts ?

Barrier coat has a flat finish and is not particularly UV resistant.

What is the name of the product ? The term barrier coat is somewhat generic

As Gonzo said, Total Boat barrier coat is epoxy. There fore it is not very UV resistant and would not make a durable top coat.

Is your small boat going to stay wer or be stored dry?

If it is staying in the water, you would be better served with an anti-fouling top coat.

If dry sailed, there isn't much benifit to the epoxy barrier coat over other primers. I would be tempted to self prime the glass work. Rather than trying to turn primer into top coat.

??? Don't see where he said it was epoxy, but trekker did, and it would not make a suitable finish.
