Power Rudder is Unique to Duffy Boats

Let me try and help you. The drive, rudder and propeller are outside the boat. Do you have any input on this design. Just try to keep you on point Gonzo.

The propeller is at the furthest aft end of the boat like in an outboard, instead of protected like in an inboard; particularly if it has a skeg.

 

Actually it's not unique to Duffy. Hanse is building sailboats with a similar set up of am electric prop integrated to the rudder. They have it mounted closer to the waterline however because of the stress on the rudder shaft.

Given the increasing ubiquity of pod drives, I don't see Duffy holding onto the replacement market for very long. I doubt it would be difficult to fiberglass a torqeedo pod into a rudder. Assuming the controller would match the motor
