    Sorry, I was pretty vague when I just said 'fiberglass' ... meaning what I had seen most often being used ...ie; the low cost E-glass and typically just a regular bi-directional weave ... fine for a protective coat. But all glass is relatively heavy and the specialized cloths you mention can be expensive and hard to source ... so then I personally lean towards using carbon fiber ... UNI on the sides with biaxial on any transverse web. Mast guru Eric Sponberg NA, (now retired and cruising) would cringe at the thought of anyone using fiberglass on a mast, other than for protection.
