Flare Boats?

2001 19' Flare

This is a new Flare built by H&H Fiberglass out of Auburndale Fl. Great boat rides really nice.

 

I would leave the foam out of the stringers !! What good is it doing ??
The finish for the inside after a really good sand and all smooth use a paint riller and roll a coat of interior gel over the whole inside . Its wiil give you a slight stippled effect and hides most lumps and bumps . Gell coat is resistant to most things even spilt petrol etc etc .

Speaking from personal exspreiance making small power boats for many years All glass boat will last for a long long time . My own boat was bult 1975 and has a glass liner under the glass floors and is as good as tha day it was fitted . solid as a rock . The company i woked for we always fitted glass top hat sa they called it . Was set on set glass and weighted down and the gunned round all the flanges, when it was hard the weights were removed and the same with the glass floor that was fitted ontop
I have replaced the complete transom in my boat bebause it was wet and really heavy . Had lot a modifications to do anyway so was cut and in the bin made a differant shape that also incorpirated a 450 mm sxtension and the first motor must have been a old 16 inch , later a 20 inch and now i have a 25 inch wood has no place in small powerboats !! you can soak it , paint it glass it anstill water will find its way in . same with foam dont use it it nothing but trouble .

Interested to know how many Inboards with the 4.3 V-6 were manufactured by the Flare Boat company ? Does your husband know ? I understand that 1988
was the ONLY year that they had the I/O with the 4.3 and the monster V-6 Outdrive ?? I own one of these boats and it is still in great condition.
It has the Ski stantion. Runs and handles beautifully. Do you still live in the keys ? (I previously owned and operated "Barnacle Bill's Marina" in Key Largo,
across the Intracoastal Canal from Gilbert's Marina", up until 1983) Really miss the keys.

 

The Flare boat you described sounds like one my parents bought to replace the 15' ski boat w/40 Johnson. We could ski 2 people behind the 15' w/40, but the Flare w/40 needed more hp, it would barely get one person up and then no speed. I occasionally think of it with the 150 Johnson I have now
It was bought when Flare Boats was owned and operated by Jim Henderson (married Joanne Hiers of Bartow) in Bartow, Florida. The company was a big success at the time with good production, and complete with a Marine Supply store. They were located on the south side of Rt 60 just east of the Peace River bridge.
Unfortunately it was all totally destroyed by fire. Because of the materials used and on premises insurance was not available - so they lost everything involved. The company continued in Lake Wales for a while, but never reached it's former glory (possibly by owners choice).

 

I know this is a longshot because the thread is super old, but did anybody ever find out any additional information about flare? I have a tri hole boat that is 13‘6“ it says flare Bartow, Florida when I search this serial number it says 1970. I believe I was confused because I see that they apparently only existed for two years in the 80s.
