    Hi all

I came across an old post by IYA about re-powering with outboards.

Just wondering if anyone has dome this to a 290 open, the inboard 350's and boxes are old and unreliable now, plus out here boats sell better with outboards, so I'm considering re-powering with a pair of 150 - 200 outboards.

Any feedback would be most welcome.

    Many thanks

    Will

Buy a well supported commercial bracket.

Indeed that is a given, i was wondering if anyone had done the same boat.

Out of interest, what would you put on the back, I'm not so interested in top end speed a comfortable cruise to the fishing grounds would be ideal, we can still buy Yamaha 2 strokes out here, so was thinking a pair of 150 or 200's.

Based on the results of the other Luhrs conversion, I'd skip it, but I could be missing some detail and am only basing the statement on the other story.

There’s a conversion like that in my harbor, with a single 300 outboard in place of the original Perkins 6-354s.
It seriously lacks maneuverability at low speed, and is very susceptible to cavitation when climbing to plane.
Twins might do better, you’ll want to redo the waterline paint.

For sure it would, I'd only go with twins.
