Almost 25 years ago, I built a kayak from a kit made by Dedham Kayak company formerly from Millis, Massachusetts. It was a very simple kit, inexpensive and yielded a great little boat. They have been out of business for a long time, and I am trying to find any literature or information any one might have available. I want to build a new kayak to their original construction

I built one of their kits about 1958. I believe the cost was $50 including the canvas and dope. The ad was in the back of Outdoor Life, If you found any information I would enjoy hearing about it. Tom

I think your description and price are about right. My Dad and I built a Dedham Kayak in about 1962 after ordering it from a Boys Life Magazine ad. Also had two paddles. Ok, my Dad mainly built it and I helped. I remember a lot of bending the straight boards, screwing it together with brass screws, gluing it in spots, tacking the canvas on then treating it with banana oil (?) before putting on marine paint. It was a real project and took all winter with many evenings at it. The kayak carried two of us fishing on Madison’s Lake Mendota, and other trips including the Quetico. A great little boat. A friend also made one, but his is a kayak had the sailing adaptation. Both now hang in my garage awaiting a little TLC to get them shipshape.

I have my dad's Dedham kayak he built in 1967. Does anyone know someone who might want it? I also have a half-finished cedar canoe. I can send pics. I just want these to avoid the landfill.
