The shot at Pete's house was from behind. He is quite old now and showing it.. He just sold his Crowther 60 Hakuna matata. He is just not capable of boats anymore and has some classic cars. I'll say hi to him for you.
99 is funny... I plan on putting vinyl letters on the bottom of the pod saying "wrong way Up"

She is a cool little cat and really flies with the 2hp motor (ie. with 2 or 1 onboard) and attracted a lot of attention on our Pacific cruise (especially in the French areas) Cactus has stood up well over the last 5yrs, beside a couple of motor problems the only structural damage was breaking off a rudder 200nm short of Fiji. Luckily I brought some uni,double bias and epoxy with us so it was easily repaired (if it doesn’t break it was probably overbuilt!!) Got a few vids and plenty of photos of our trip and will download when I start Tassies’ thread. Cheers , Gerald.

 

These forums are one of the wonders of the internet age. I feel somewhat honored to have the the opportunity to have the facility to interact to some extent with the man behind the hand that drew what, in my opinion, are some of the most balanced designs to come out of Australia and shows that multihulls can be just as easy on the eye as monos, just faster! Sorry to put time in perspective, but I was just a kid when I saw Nusa Dua in Australian Multihull World - one of those boats that just looked right, and your designs have only got prettier! Glad to hear you're still tinkering.

 

Gerald, any rigged/ sailing pictures of "porkchop"? Very cool cat! I'd love to see pictures of your new tender as well.......

 

Hi All at Sea, thanks heaps for your compliments, my head swelled that much I had trouble getting my motorbike helmet on yesterday! I’m still tinkering but only on little stuff now, those big boats just soak up too much building time and not good for your health. Luckily I am still relatively fit and healthy for my age which could probably be put down to a life of sailing and surfing(?) yes i know Bill ,i'm the current owner,i bought nusa from him 2 years ago,and have been enjoying racing her on pittwater,have close racing with Lukim Lu,depending on the breeze,she's a cracker of a boat,well made and still very fast,likes the breeze,would like to find out a few things about nusa if you don't mind me picking your brain,mainly to do with the engineering of the front beam and dolphin striker from what i can tell everything is still original and needs replacing ,would like to go synthetic to reduce some weight.

Hi Mike, feel free to ask any questions about Nusa Dua and I will try my best to answer them (she was launched in 1992 so it’s 26 yrs since I built her!) and a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then. It’s cool that you are dueling with Lukim Yu as Lukim was quite competitive in light to moderate airs and yes Nusa Dua always liked a bit of breeze. I haven’t had much experience with synthetics but for strikers I would personally prefer to go with wire maybe using dyform to save a bit of weight (probably being old fashioned but I’ve read that synthetics seem to need constant tensioning, best you check with a rigger) Has Bill bought another boat yet, say hi to him next time you see him. Hi Mike, I'm also re-doing the dolphin striker on my cat. I'm the white wing-masted 30'er west along the channel from yours.
I'll keep an eye on this post and put up anything I come across. I'm also looking at synthetic, not so much from a weight point of view but rather that I can splice it all myself...
