jet drive or electric surface drive?

    I live at the top of a small tidal river. I need to transport at least two people to reach and return nearer low tides.
    I thought jet drive might be the answer. But then - how about electric?
    It's silent for conversation, and in a lightweight ply flat bottom boat with the only the bottom prop blades in the water it would draw maybe only 8inches!
    Jet drives are usually for power, are noisy and draw in seaweed at low speeds. (6 knot limit)
