So, I have been working on this 18 foot cruiser for a few months now and I am finally getting to the point where I need to start paying attention to what ever requirements/inspection my boat is going to have to pass to get registered. I live in texas and The boat is going to be a salt water boat. Anyone have any idea what process I have to do?

If it's a self designed build or one built from purchased plans "AND" not being used commercially or for hire, the only inspections you can expect is a Wild Life or Fish and Game Officer walking around and looking at it and saying, "yep, it's a boat", before he hands you the paper work to get a registration and title. The USCG has some "recommendations" but for your project, is strictly a pleasure boat, nothing to worry about. Texas is one of the easier states to get things registered in.
