    Dear All,

I am busy in this period to validate results of cfd calculations made with the software OpenFoam. Not having the possibility to verify my results with the experiments in the towing test, I thought to bring a vessel which has good parameters to fit perfectly in the regression of Holtrop Mennen. Althought I don't really have an idea of how much this difference between CFD calculations and Holtrop Mennen results should be. So far, I got around 5% of deviation for high speeds (21- 23- 25 knots), but around 9% for lower speed, like 17 knots. I am wondering what the percentage boundary should be beyond which the results are too far from the regression to be credible.

I am counting on your experience in hydrodynamics as a naval architect and/or maybe you have had similar type of comparison in your carrier.

    Thank you in advance,

    RF

What type of hull? Have you used OpenFoam on a similar hull for which experimental results are available?

    Dear David,
thanks a lot for your reply.

I am using a frigate called GOA downloaded from the SARC website, Downloads - SARC https://www.sarc.nl/downloads/, Fairway_parenthulls . In attachment you can see the lines plan.
Yes I used OpenFoam for the DTCHull, but the DTCHull doesn't fit in the regression of Holtrop Mennen, that's a problem that I had.
Do you have some suggestions for me?

    Thanks and regards,
