    Thanks Rumars,

    That explains a lot . . :)

I was wondering why the marine version has so much more power than the CP3 engines in tractors and trucks, of which I will post some later with their engine type № to track down a manual . .

Nothing to thank for, it says so in the leaflet you posted:
"Supercharging: by exhaust gases driven turbocharger with sea water cooled air intake." Modern english translation: "turbocharged with raw water intercooler"

There's a British owner who has a Dutch barge for sale in the Netherlands with exact the same engine . .

    ‘‘ Engine brand: Fiat Aifo - - - Engine model: CP3-SM - - - Enginepower: 115 Hp (85 kW) ’’

It seems they're mistaken on the power output which should be 220 Hp (162 kW).

But anyway, it could be asked through the broker if the owner has an engine manual and if so, if he's willing to scan and e-mail it. :)

    ‘‘ Mooring: near Leiden in the Netherlands - - - Construction Year: 1924 ’’
    ‘‘ Dimensions: - L 20.20 m - - B = 5.02 m - - D = 0.85 m - - - Displacement (approx.): 50 ton ’’

Ask at Someca in France the Someca 1300 had the CP3 engine. The parts catalog is online, you can download it. Tracteurs SOMECA http://www.tracteurs-someca.fr/1300.html
The changes to SM are probably a lowered compression to allow for the turbo and the heat exchangers. Also inquire directly at Iveco. Your best chance actually is a big library. National and university libraries collect "grey literature" and one should have the workshop manual.

    Hi Angelique and Rumars,

Thank you so very much for all the information and I shall have a good read and check the links. I had been away on holiday for a while so had to forget about the boat but it is now full steam ahead. I have had the turbo and fuel injection pump serviced and rebuilt and we are now chasing new injector heads. If that fixes my white smoke issue I will be a happy man. If not it is then onto the head, valves and pistons however I do not have any blowby and compression checks out OK.
Just looking above it appears the motor in the barge is an earlier non turbo model so the HP might be correct.

    Regards
    Mick

    Hi Guys,

My apologies Angelique and Rumars and hope this finds you both well. I have been busy working and trying to get my boat running, I do mean trying. I tried to down load the document and my computer said no. If you have a copy that would be greatly appreciated. I have also seen a few motors the same as mine for sale on Italian sites, just not sure how to arrange a mechanical check over there an transport to Australia but sure I will work it out. Have a great day.

    Hi All,
I recently bought a old Cantieri Rafaelli Regal 35 for restoration with two CP3 SM engines inside. All in all the engines are in a good condition and work perfectly, but I'm considering a small overhaul. Some manuals would be handy if some of you guys still have them.
    Thanks

The work @Angélique put in to help Mick is purely heroic, like a lot of forum members. Are they still around?

    Still miss PAR...
