    JohnMarc <--- My ultimate goal

I have put a lot of thought to my plans of building a houseboat and the words "trying to run before you walk" come to mind.
I think it would be best to start with something simpler, something that can be a learning experience and if it fails I could put it down as experience and move on without too big a dent in my bank balance.
We have a guest house on the island and I would love to offer my guests "sunset drinks" on board a small boat (approx 2,5m /8' x 6m/ 19,5') that can seat up to eight people with the focus being on luxury. I would also like it to be a bit of a water taxi with our guests often wanting to go to various tourist attractions around the lagoon. I would power it with a fifty HP outboard. Does anyone have any suggestions for plans I could look at without having to pay out monies to only find it not ideal.
I would like it to be an open deck with a shade collapsible roof and an all wood construction.
I am looking at power catamaran designs and flat bottom hulls, it would be nice to plane at about ten knots I guess and comfortable ride at say 30 knots. Our lagoon is long ......
