Please explain what you wish the software to do. Your question is not entirely clear. Many of us will help you but only if we know what you need to explore.

Keep in mind that all software is only as efficient as the information that you input into the program. Software will not design your boat for you, it will give you all sorts of information when you have shown it your design and the dimensions of your design.

There is no software that provides the "shell expansion" as a whole. If you need the development of some hull panels, there are several programs that do it. Depending on the complexity of your boat, you may need more or less expensive programs. Maxsurf is one of them, at a high but reasonable price for what it does.
There are also procedures that allow you to develop/expand panels working by hand with AutoCAD, for example, or similar programs. But for this, you must know the manual procedures to do it.

    Hello TANSL,
Thanks for your reply. I am a naval architect. I am very interested to start a small wooden boat building firm as a hobby in my village utilizing local skilled carpenters. After surveying internet, I found some simple 20 feet chine hulls can be built with plywood sheets for which lines plans are available. To make the hull surface, plywood need to be cut to shape and joined. For this I feel, I need to prepare shell development plan from the boat lines plan. Max Surf will be costly for me. I am looking for a cheaper alternative to start with.Could you please elaborate on the method of doing with AutoCAD suggested by you, which looks interesting to me.
    Regards
    HK

Hi HK, I think attached file can help you.
Apart from the method described in that article, I use another with AutoCAD, called the "straight baseline" method, but I will not be able to explain it to you. If you provide me with the body lines plan of your ship I will tell you if I can help you develop those panels. Send me a PM with your e.mail, if it seems appropriate.
