    The launch of the new ultim Banque Populaire IX is now fixed to oct. 16 :

    The previous trimaran Banque Populaire X is still, since 2009, the record holder of the North Atlantic crossing in 3 days 15 h 25 men 48 s, so an average speed of 32,94 knots, inc. a record 907 NM in 24 h :


    Trimaran ultim Macif / Francois Gabart will start in oct. 22 at Brest the stand-by to wait for the meteo optimal day to begin a round the world in solo :

    It will be real interesting to see if any of these boats adopt the lifting foil on the daggerboard like Gitana 17. And real interesting to see how Gitana 17 does against them....

    I saw those drawings the other day but I couldn't figure out if I was seeing a foil on the daggerboard or a rudder T-foil or both. I finally decided it must be a rudder t-foil.
    The ama uptip foils are obvious. I like Len Surtees-I'll see if I still have his e-mail. I'm having good luck with responses these days-I'm on a roll I guess......
    UPDATE-I didn't have it but finally ran across it and sent him an e-mail. Maybe he'll write back!
