    Searching for Fellow Sundance Sailboat Owners ~

    Last year I purchased an El Mar Boat Company Sundance 20 sailboat, hull number 21 (manufactured in 1973), which I named s/v Starsong. Since purchasing my boat, I have had direct contact with only a few fellow owners and like these owners, I could not find much Internet information about the company or our boats. I have posted a YouTube video and created an El Mar Boat Company Sailboats Facebook Group in hopes of locating other Sundance Sailboat enthusiasts to exchange valuable information about our boats.

    So, check out my YouTube video;

    And the Facebook Group for Sundance Sailboats;

    Thanks,
    *AJ*

    The wonders of the Internet!

    Within days of my post, I received a scan from an original Sundance 20 sales brochure by the former owner of the company!

    It's great to have this documentation!

    Hi folks - I realize this is a very old post - but I'm hoping someone is following.

    I just purchased a Sundance 20 in very good condition.. I am refurbishing it and have some questions about the keel.

    Does anyone have information about the location of the keel pivot bolt - or know of its construction? I'm debating having it put on a hoise so I can inspect and / or replace the bolt as a preventative measure. I'd like to know if its something that needs to be done before I spend $$ at a shop getting it looked at.

    Also - If anyone has more pics or an assembly diagram of the keel system, I'd be appreciative.

    Lastly - AJ - I signed up for the facebook group a few days ago if you don't mind, could you approve my membership?

    Thanks in advance folks!

    - Chris

    Chris just notified my DM can not go thru - possibly new membership woes. My message was as follows;

    Hi Chris!
    Great to hear about your 'new to you' Sundance 20! I am facing the same issues with mine and tried contacting Len Ferry (company owner and designer) directly and through the FB group with no replies. Very strange indeed. I will help as well as I can with your questions. I have not received notice from FB about your membership inquiry. I'll check into that and get back with you. Cheers, AJ

    Thanks for the welcome! I'm thinking that in addition to the FB group, possibly a "sundance" website may be in order - I'm a complete geek on stuff like this, and have done a couple similar simple websites in the past. I honestly don't trust FB much as we are at their mercy and if they shut the group down for any reason, there is no recourse... (I'm also a member of several shooting/gun related groups, and they get blacklisted from time to time because of members not behaving.)

    Is Len local still? If so, maybe we can scan any doc's he may have and archive them for future owners... I'd love to have a DIY area for maintanance issues and concerns.

    I sent you a friend request on FB - since the DM's arent working here. I assume you have to have a minimum number of posts first...

    Yes Chris, I believe your are correct about the minimum number of post here before one can DM other members. The Sundance 20 website sounds great! Go for it and I will be happy to offer any information (although limited) I have on these boats. Keep me posted.
