    Hey Brian,

Sure I would take a stab at it. I consider myself a very early stage beginner so don't expect anything beyond what I have been able to do, but yeah, explain it to me or send me a file to translate to 3D, I always love anything to do with boats!

I like the belt driven idea but I also like the idea of a pod motor in sort of the same mounting manner. You would lower it when needed. because when submerged you cut out all motor noise when underway. Given I don't intend to use the motors much but by the time I get around to ordering those components, I have a feeling that energy storage densities are going to be way up and prices way down so might end up with a lot more batteries and a reasonable cruise range under power.

Well I haven't sold my house yet and market is really fluctuating but I think I will have the cash to be able to hire the designer before end of March. Gotta speed things up now that Groper is enjoying life sailing around in his new cat !!!

I have made some changes trying to simplify and cheapen the build.
    - Straightened the lines,
    - created a rear entry kind of like the SIG ... There will be a transom door back there. I like this, it freed up a lot of space both inside and out, have a great big galley and dining area/nav station.
    - BOA is down to 28 foot, still 60 length.
    - Still has the solar roof but It's going to be open air with roll down plastic sides.

The 4 queen sized bunks are tucked under the helm stations and forward lounges, they don't encroach into the narrow hulls at all. Only the rear bath has to occupy one half the passageway. Hoping by time designers are done house will be sold but time is on my side as more and more advances are made in both solar cells and batteries.

Finalized my design after flipping between the Gunboat 68 and my boxy drawing above. I'm going for the streamlined version, it's closer to what designers will want to draw anyway and I am able to get 30 solar panels on the roof, prob a bit more over the tender. I think the helm will go in the forward cockpit or just inside with ropes outside.

The last few weeks have been devoted to the weight schedule including itemizing everything I can imagine will be needed for transoceanic crossings, I am not done yet, but I am close. I will post this final pics of the design and who I awarded the engineering to soon after. It's been fun and thanks for the TONS of help ))

... oh and not shown is the inside helm, very much like Gunboats with the dual doors just forward to the front cockpit.

    SORT OF Unique Features
    rear hull entry,
    6.5KW per hour standard
13.3KW per hour extra solar deployed
    72KWH batteries
Pivoting Centerboard ... think its unique for a 75 foot boat
Kickup Rudders with direct drive transmission, doubt many boats this size have that
pod drives off sides of hull with mini protective keel, they are above bottom of boat
    22 inch draft rudders/board up
Prof. food preservation and preparation capabilities ))
not really unique but not common - Twin unstayed rotating wing masts with wishbone rigs
Waiting on engineers for weights but forecast between 12-14 tons heavy ship, pretty unique for boat this size.
... and here are some cool renders of the boat since I've polished it up a bit

Ok, etamax is getting the engineering job and Rob Denney is going to be helping me out since I don't know jack about sailing. Next thread will be the build thread!!

Good luck-looks like an exciting project! I think the midship centerboard is a very good idea -particularly on a cruising cat.
