Dear Doug, I have not exact figure, they arrived 1h48 behind, speed was less than 20 knots at very end, so I think around 30 NM.

Thanks. Depending on how accurate that is, it shows that if Team Gitana had not made that course error ,they could have won despite their other problems!
From the Gitana site, 11/16/17 :

Thomas Rouxel: “Ah! It was my first Transat Jacques Vabre and I wouldn't have said no to a little victory! But here we are with this second place and that's no small feat. We made a strategic error at the Azores, which cost dearly and I think it was one of the key points in the race. Added to that, we had foil issues, which no longer enabled us to make a difference in terms of speed. Furthermore, we were up against two mighty candidates.”

St Michel Virbac victory in Imoca class, Jean-Pierre Dick 4th victory in this race and his last one as he takes a semi-retirement as racer, the boat will now be helmed by Yann Elies with in perspective the next Vendée Globe. Their average speed on water : 14,55 Knots.

Very good resistance of the non foiler SMA (ex Macif), second in front of others foiler assisted "Des Voiles et vous" (ex Safran) and "Malizia II" (ex Gitana).
