Woman gets up to 4 years in fiance's river kayaking death https://www.yahoo.com/news/woman-faces-sentencing-fiances-river-kayaking-death-124032188.html

What sort of kayak and plug? Some under the waterline fish-finder or something?

I'm interested because I bought an old Tarpon 16i and its got a couple holes from old fish-finders sorta on the side of stern, but high enough to be MOSTLY above the water line. The Tarpon 16i is a big SOT, but rides fairly low, lower than 15ft Trident and I'm about 290lbs dry weight.

Story does not make much sense, some sit on tops have plugs for the cockpit drain, to empty out a filled cockpit, but even when left open would only allow for an inch of water sloshing around in the foot wells.

Little plug on top of the kayak to drain the kayak on shore when holding it upside down.

Big guy, so a bit of water sloshing around in the kayak could have made it unstable, it capsized but didn't sink, the guy sank, his body was found about a month later.

She had also pushed away his paddle, so he could not stabilize nor steer, which I think could be the main cause of the capsize.

See the linked text and pictures, and also watch the videos in the last three links:

Note: for me the main video in the Link 3 article didn't work, but the little one on the top left of the page worked, and was enlargeable to full screen, but had to wait till the video ads were finished.

Still not seeing any info on kayak. Could have been an inflatable for all I know, and maybe that was "the plug". Most of these "reporters" don't know anything except what they overhear in the local Starbucks.

I can't tell if they were regular kayak people or this was the first time they inflated a "K-Mark Coffin" cheap inflatable and this was lark. I hear its a typical guy thing to want to do some new semi-dangerous outdoor adventure "together" in a failing marriage, and "new semi-dangerous outdoor (cold, wet, dirty, smelly, humiliating, uncomfortable) adventure" is about the last thing the gal wants to do, especially with the guy she has already decided to leave.

Anyway, this is why I try not to do any kayaking any further from shore than I could comfortably swim, and only in water calm and warm enough to safely swim in, and always wear my PDF.

I think I'll start carrying water-proof flares or star-shells, too, since my fave time is as dusk is falling.

I've added a fifth link to post #4, and also had another look through the other ones.
In the link 3 article I saw the prosecutors had accused her of removing a drain plug from the kayak and pushing away a paddle after the kayak capsized.

So the above quote is not in accordance with what I've read in the link 3 article, my apologies for this.

Although it would have been a kinda logical explanation for the capsize of the kayak.

But then I'll guess it's as the interviewer says in the link 4 video from 2:03 to 2:07, about what exactly happened there...

‘‘ Nobody knows what happened on that river, except for two people, and one of them is dead. ’’

So maybe Angelika pushed Vince off without a paddle . . . only Angelika knows . . .

Below a quote from the link 3 article, note the alcohol, the choppy waves, and the cold water, mentioned by Angelika's attorneys...

That's not in accordance with the facts !

If you have watched the 3 linked videos, as quoted in your post #6, then you have seen info on the kayak.

The thing we don't know for sure is if the correct kind of kayak is shown.
    Do you have any clues for this . . . ? ?

Did you do more investigations than the reporters in this case . . . ? ?
The only thing that's worse than ‘‘ Most of these "reporters" ’’ is people on forums who pull these kind of general drivel arguments right out of their pocket, without knowing anything nor investigating about the reporters in question.

But don't worry, you can still investigate about the quality of the reports, and then report you well substantiated findings here.
Good luck with this job . . :)

    P.S.
Is this just more random drivel, or do you have any clues that Vince used an inflatable kayak . . . ? ?

Again, did you do more investigations than the reporters in this case . . . ? ?

Or is it your wish to post just random drivel here . . . ? ?

    Which is not a crime, far as I know . . . ;)

    From post #1
Did you have ever heard of an fish-finder that uses under the waterline through hull holes on an inflatable kayak . . . ? ?

Please post real info about that thing . . . . . . . Or don't contradict yourself with all this nonsense !

Since far as I know fish-finders don't work with through hull holes on inflatables . . .
