haha....tropical cyclones in the Southern Hemisphere are, of course, just hurricanes rotating in the opposite direction. There is no city of any size in Australia, in cyclone prone areas. 90% of the population basically not affected.

 

Maria will likely just produce little more than what a healthy thunderstorm would, in our way of seeing things. Horizontal rain isn't a big deal, unless you've never seen it before. We have. Every decade we'll have a hummer, every few decades a notable one and every half a century an asskicker.

 

It would be pretty spooky if Maria homed in on Orlando, and especially so if it was first thing in the morning !

 

It probably won't but if it does that mouse had better tuck in his ears.

 

I'd be very surprised if it touched Florida at all.

Today I get my new motor! It is 20 hp Honda with power tilt and remote steering. I got 15 knots with the 9.9 horse Honda so what do you think the 20 horse Honda will do?

 

Likely about 24 - 25 MPH, depending on load.

We finally launched the boat Sunday with the new motor and 2 adults and a dog(410 lbs. of us)! It is still in the break-in period but once we reached the point where it was allowable to accelerate I pushed the throttle up for a very short time. In that time it reached 21 mph and still accelerating when I cut back on the throttle so as not to overdo it. Very happy with the Honda 20.

 

I guess I underestimated the weight of your boat, given the speeds you've seen. Then again, maybe you just need some flat water, adjust her trim and you'll actually see what I estimated. In any case, I'm glad you're pleased with the new outboard. FWIW, Hondas are factory broken-in, so don't be afraid to crank her up.

I think you'll be very with your new Honda.
I'm not a big brand flag-waver but the Honda 225 I've run for years on the tour boat has performed flawlessly.
Did you get the fresh water flush kit with it?

 

Thanks. I already had the flush hose adapter for the 9.9. It fits the 20 too.

 

A little repainting after the remodel helps. I will replace the console at some point but for now I just want to get back on the water.
