    Hello,
I would like to build a pontoon work boat for seaweed harvesting to be operated on the coast of Indonesia. The size is about 12m by 5m with about 15tonnes displacement required. The final work boat looks something like the picture attached. I would like to make this boat in the least time possible. Even buying a used workboat like this around Indonesia would be a great idea. Will be really grateful if anyone can give leads on this. Cheers!

A simple barge should be the best. What is the seaweed used for ?

I'm looking at a 'Pontoon Workboat' only to be precise, something that resembles a catamaran. The boat moves over the seaweed cultivation structures. The structures are between the two hulls of the boat. Seaweed is used for carrageenan.

So the draft would be critical ?

Can you get empty plastic barrels like the ones in the photo?

In that case, your pontoons should be broad, slab sided, and flat bottomed.

Actually, the workboat is made from 2 long pontoons. Not empty plastic barrels. Empty plastic barrels could be an option but we cannot have water/fuel tanks in the plastic barrels

That is good, you can optimize for the work site, not for underway.
