A by product of low sulfur diesel is that due to its low lubricity and hence causing problems with some old diesels you have to buy a new tier2, 3, 4 one so hence you have helped the environment......
I'm sure thats what any government would say??
    Or
Buy your diesel in the third world as that where all the old out of spec fuel seems to be these days.
Either shipped there or made in refinerys that cant remove the sulfur

reminds me of time I rebuilt Kawasaki H-1 two stroke

    'cafe racer' with oil injection.

I was afraid of killing the motor again(ran out of oil) so I started it for first time(begining of 60 mile trip...I had faith) with a very rich premix.

I couldn't see the cars behind me due to massive smoke screen.

I hear it made the local traffic new reports.

Jesting aside, rotax loopers were not made to run on lawn mower oil. Yee'd best adher to XD 100 at any cost. And if you want to pay more, try Red Line, has a nice slight odor of castor oil in my OMC 75.

As I dont know very much about this engine I will anyway make an input that if you have rubberbushings the four stroke oil may eat them up.

In response to the question, "CAN I USE 4-STROKE OIL TO BURN IN A 2-STROKE SEA-DOO?, the answer is yes. Of course you can. You can also burn baby oil, linseed oil, suntan oil, and whale oil if you can get it.

But I think the best and least expensive oil is the type that SEA DOO recommends.

I think that you motor is really a two stroke outboard. I don't believe Johnson made any 85 hp 4-stroke motors. You can post your engine model number on this post and we can verify if it is 2-stroke and what model. 4-stroke motors will have a dipstick like a car to check oil. 2-stroke motors will either have oil mixed in with gas or a remote oil tank that automatically mixes oil with the fuel before reaching the carburetors.

If you need more info, click here for a service manual Johnson repair manual.

Hello my name is Owen I'm a jr small engine mechanic. I was wondering if you know... Can I use canola oil instead of two stroke oil in my gas for my two stroke lawnmower?

    Hi Owen.
Canola oil I had to look up, here they call it rapeseed oil. Your lawn mower will have no problems with it and you're CO2 neutral as far as the lubricant is concerned.

How about used canola oil (if it's filtered?)

I wouldn't trust used oil because it certainly is contaminated, even after filtering. It may however be converted into diesel fuel.

As one responder already wrote, only in an emergency. Carbon deposits and coking from continual use would occur along with reduced lubrication. So-called 2 stroke oils prior to the "50:1" era were little more than 4 stroke oil. You should stick with Evinrude or Mercury oil for the Johnson 2 stroke. The cleanest burning and best lubricating oil is fully synthetic BRP XD100. The Rotax motor in the SeaDoo is a high RPM motor and should sbe run with with BRP XPS oil. Next best for Rotax would be XD100 or an expensive racing oil like Red Line cart oil.

Absolutely silly to risk an engine with cheap oil, maybe your old lawnmower, but beside that, no......
