    Don't consider the oak a waste of money. It can be re-purposed to add improvements within the hull.

    Good idea.
    I'm going to start with the single 3/4" board.
    I have cut additional strips (1 1/2 x 1/4) that I might glue up in exactly the manner you suggest - after an initial trial.

    Somehow I missed this thread. I'm guessing that the boat was disassembled?
