Barnacles on Copper?

    at our club the boats with copper coat still get cleaned every 2 weeks just like all the other anti foul systems, the only difference is they are not applying it yearly

    Indeed, but a properly designed boat using an outboard for auxiliary propulsion will not have those sacrificial zincs in the water very often. I was under impression we were discussing this in context of sailboats. If actually sailing, or at anchor, it only makes sense to lift the outboard(s) to reduce drag, fouling, etc. I have the impression, based on available research, that such limited exposure to anodic protection does not significantly impair the antifouling properties of metallic copper.
