    The Crash: the crew on Team Japan were very, very lucky they didn't get seriously hurt!

    Doug,

    What is the reason for the extreme bow down attitude of these boats? Is it a safety measure to prevent backward flip in high wind? The wind was very light in Hamilton Sound and the racing lacked the speed of San Francisco. The announcers seemed very confused about the speed. Giving it as knots when it was actually much lower in KMH, or nearly half that in MPH. Difficult to orient the view to the race course with no clear recognizable reference points like Alcatraz, The Golden Gate and hills of SF. I lost track of where the boats were from time to time.

    A two boat length penalty for nearly wrecking two boats? I know windward boat has to keep clear but there are several limitations on luffing rights. Were all these limitations met?

    Tom, top boat speed yesterday was 41.5 knots from BAR in their race against Artemis. This is another shot of their damage: (unknown photographer-source sa)

    I looked up that America's Cup site, and a few of the replies indicated the 'apps' that were available were not so good??

    I don't have cable TV, so I thought I might find it streaming on the net somewhere else?

    Meantime I have a neighbor who has direct TV with sports channels and he has invited my over to watch.
    Some of the other webcam sites might have pics and film, but not the 'presentation' offered by NBC sports tv,...is that correct??

    Of course if I'm not needing to get it 'LIVE',.. I suppose I can always find the reruns on youtube, ...correct?

    Isn't that the second boat that GB's LandRover has collided with?

    I don't have cable either but may get it again this week. I'm listening to it on
    BT sports. I don't know about reruns-maybe sooner or later?

    You might be able to hear it here: Bt Sport 1 Live Stream | Bt Sport 1 http://cricfree.sc/bt-sport-1-live-stream-ing

    ======
    Yes-but the second one with TNZ was possibly a bit of fault on both Teams though Bar got the penalty.

    AOI change of vertical portion of foil(daggerboard) only:

    From the Interpretation below it appears that if the daggerboard portion of the foil was twisted it could be designed to create a positive angle of incidence as the foil was deployed. This would act in a similar way to a gybing board on a dinghy (on one tack) and could result in a change in the way leeway affects the boat and ,potentially, a bit of extra speed. Further, the degree of AOI change could be adjustable by retracting the board a bit? This would probably have no negative effect on the horizontal portion of the foil.

    Interpretation: Changes in the daggerboard orientation relative to the yacht axes where the changes are caused solely by the inherent shape of the board passing through the bearings during the action of retraction or extension are permitted. All other AC Class Rules that limit daggerboard movement apply, including Rule 11.9. END Issued by the America’s Cup
