I'm not criticizing your English, which I have said in lots of different threads.
My Spanish doesn't exist and I admire anyone with multiple languages.
But we are speaking English, and we need to understand what is meant.

And what I mean is that you are wrong about your criticism of foam used properly.

An interesting, and very illustrative, exchange of private messages with upcurchmr has made me understand that the treatment I was giving to this subject, due to my mental slips and misuse of the language, is totally incorrect, or rather totally wrong. To be honest, and I always like to be, I must publicly acknowledge my mistake.

    Tansl,
A solid glass boat is going to be significantly heavier and will be more time consuming and more expensive then the foam method I have described.
The boat I'm building is a lightweight sportsboat. Building this from solid glass would be completely inappropriate.

Foam core has been in use for many decades and proven itself well.

mojounwin, I do not totally agree with what you say but, as you have been able to verify, I can be wrong.
In my opinion, when minimum regulatory thicknesses are not too great, sandwhich construction is not necessary. In any case, I say again that in my opinion, it would be necessary to do the actual calculation of your boat to check which is the lower weight solution (taking into account the situation and circumstances of the panels you have planned, as well as the available reinforcements).
As upchurchmr says, the foam is suitable if used correctly. And I add, not always the foam is the solution to save weight (but I can be wrong)

Quietness and damping of vibrations and reverbations is a big plus of foam sandwich construction, that does not get enough mention, imo.

the boat is now in the NL & on thje website you see two pics (bad ones though) of the "strip-plank" construction. They had specially extruded aluminum "strips that locked into one another, they bent them individually, slid them together & the glued them. The advantage was only obvious to the inventor...
a yes "oosten..." means "Austrian inventor" in Dutch I suppose
    "Eder" was/is his name

Sorry, I didn't notice the english page.
    Very interesting.
Not sure how you would glue the "planks" together, particularly at the nose and transom.
This must have been very expensive with the cost of the extrusion dies.
