twin keel and rudder design

    Hi. Looking for your knowledge for those with experience in Twin keel and twin rudder concepts . 8 m aluminium 1/4 tonner.
    Was looking to chop current keel off and add twin keels . Images attached . I can weld and fabricate anything so this is not an issue .
    Aim is to improve stability, reduce draft, still maintain pointy into wind and lose no hull speed.
    Beam is 2.4m, Current keel is 1.2m. Lead weighted at bottom. Current total yacht weight is 800kgs.

    Increase in frictional drag with double fin keel

    Increasing submerged area equals increasing in frictional drag thus ending in reduced hull speed

    If You want to increase stability You must lower your CG

    Furthermore, you should have more efficient appendages design to allow the boat pointing upwind further
