Forgotten idea - max. roach furling main. without battens

    Yessa, i expected this link.
    thanks.
    But, as one can see UFO's main has battens and is non- furling.

    I' m wondering about the mechanic solution on the russion boat --rotating mast with fixes spreaders .
    Any idea ?

    Aah , eventually i got it.
    It's a a simple rotating wire for furling behind the mast:

    Same principle with A-mast:

    The "forgotten" thing on the russian boat is the spar at the aft leech for max. roach AND furling.
    With modern materials it might be a better compromise for cruisers ?
    Perhaps with a conventional furling spar inside a rotating wingmast of little chord; eliminating the sag.
