    Hi from South Africa

I am very new to sailing and have newly acquired a Flipper Scow. I have not been able to find out much about the boat from the net and was sent here by someone from rcgroups.

I am looking for any info on this boat and if anyone has a info booklet on it I would be most grateful. The boat was stripped to be painted which the past owner never got around to. So I will now have to put all the bits back in place before I can go sail.

I have never sailed anything that a person can sit on or in only RC boats for now, but am looking forward to the next step.

    Donald

    Hey Donald,

This is a Danish manual with lots of drawings, hope it helps.

Also a pic from my Frankenboated Flipper Scow equipped with a Contender mainsail.

Wow thanks so much for this.

If only I could understand it, what language it? If German I know someone who could help with translation.

The pictures are very helpful indeed

It´s in Danish, closely related to Swedish. Anyway the pics are what you need. The first part of the text are common advices and the text after the pics are the rules that are no longer needed as the class is dead.
So modify anything if needed to make the Flipper to suit your needs. Surely you can adopt some from your RC-boats. Same, same but bigger :) .
If you intend to use the boat single handed skip the jib and put the mast foot in the most forward hole.
    My advices are:
1 Remake main sheeting ala skiff with bridle.
2 Make sure vang is at least 6x but preferably 12x.
3 Make the main downhaul at least 4x. On some mains the bolt rope has shrunk, then replace with 8mm rubber cord.
4 Be sure to adjust the rig tight enough.
Note, the rig in the pic is not original but the trim is the same.
    Good luck!
