I posted a question about a modern wooden runabout a while back when I was thinking I would have time to build a new boat and am really itchy to get things going. I am an experienced builder and need a design that could be cold molded with ply or strip or any combination but, it should have a stepped hull and a design similar to a VanDutch or Frauscher boat. I love the plum bow, the integrated anchor and the layout of the Frauscher especially and think this boat could be built in a cold molded fashion in an 18 -22' length.
I have a CNC machine, plenty of mahogany in stock and will have room to do the job in a few months. The plywood or cedar strips method is also readily available. All I need is a good lines drawing, a table of offsets and some preliminary testing via computer program to get the ball rolling.

Ya, I could go the route of learning another new design program but, why not employ some real professionals.

    Anyone out there with comments?

JFH, thank you for your posting. I pulled up the Frauscher site and I love their Bow
design to-so much so that I changed my plans to incorporate it on my plans which I will post soon.

    Triple Seven

I also found a nice platform to work with on a few sites.
One is called the Triple 7.

    Another is the Open Delta

Both have a similar look on the profile. I know I can do this in wood composite.
Walk out transom with a bimini for sun and some creature comforts with just enough wood showing on trim and some high tech flooring.

Toronto Boat Show finally has a Frauscher!
I have been admiring these boats for a few years now on line and am going to see the Phantom tomorrow. She is a design that will influence boat design here.... I am sure.
The boat show has always been a sea of plastic that looks the same and the Frauscher is a real stand out. I will get some pics and post them soon.
I know I can produce a boat without the stepped bottom that will serve me well on our protected lake in Northern Ontario.

Nice Bow with integrated anchor. This Mirage version has more tumble-home than the previous ones. No bow thruster on this model either. The step hull is achievable but, not really necessary for this first boat. I just tried to upload my pics, moved them to a new file and presto! they disappeared!
Oh well. I guess I will have to go back.

It is a beautiful boat but it has nothing to do with a Frauscher Sport boat style.

Ya, that boat looks familiar but, not the statement that the Frauscher makes. I can build anything,....really. I want to redesign for my use and with my "stamp" on it with influences from boats like the Frauscher and VanDutch lines. "Very European" is just not an option here in Ontario and if I can bring that to my lake and summer life at our cottage, that would be even better than restoring another woody. I have plenty of old boats and have restored more than I can remember. The one that I loved doing the most was a recreation of a Gravette Streamliner. l had no plans to start with and went through this same process. Boat is stunning but, not for me.

The Frauscher boat designs caught my eye several years ago; definitely distinctive and beautiful. And I can easily understand making it your own design. Keep us posted on progress.
