Bill Gates Leads New Fund as Fears of U.S. Retreat on Climate Grow | New York Times

Fears that government funding of critical research may dry up under a new administration has spurred Bill Gates, along with the U of California and 19 others, to create a fund supporting research in electricity generation and storage, transportation, agriculture and energy-system efficiency.

This strikes me as an appropriate hymn for the occasion.
Minor key, with profound and weighty thoughts.
    Please ignore the religious inferences.

Hoyt, you get to choose the next song. Maybe this one? ;)

... and it goes against Christ's commandment to love your neighbor and your enemy. I love you all but I hate tyranny.

I posted a reply a few days ago, but Jeff removed it... I'm guessing someone whined to him about it.

I believe it started off saying yes there is anger but not depression, just disappointment in Americans for making such an ignorant choice. But it's not just Americans, here's you saying 3 million more votes than the other candidate means we lost. It might be too subtle for you, but the fact is pretty near everybody, everywhere, lost. Those who won are the ones who enjoy trickling down upon those who think it's a great thing, like you.

I think I asked if you could give us Americans pointers on dealing with the slide from being a first world country to a second rate one, since you've had such an experience and we're about to, I reckon.

Jeff probably censored me for using words you guys use all day, every day. You know, you see a friend and say something like "**** yeah Perry, you old ****, how you been? C'mon over here and I'll buy you a pint, ya ****!"

    Go figure, huh?

And I also wished a Merry Christmas to you and yours.

As for your thoughts about AGW and climate change, you should probably find someone with actual credentials to keep the faith with instead of your WUWT blog owner, Anthony Watt, a tv meteorologist with a degree from P̶e̶r̶d̶u̶e̶ high school. And that hack above, Willis Eisenbach? Well, that's plain pathetic. Can't you do any better than those two?

Here's what you need to know....

    "Diagnosing a victim of "Anti-Science Syndrome (***)"
Well, maybe you can figure out the acronym.
The symtoms makes me think of you, "Big Al" Barnacle and "Yip-Yap" Hoyte .

Here's 92 videos, all using people who know what they're talking about. Can you come even close to refuting any of these people?

That is the Old Testament. The New Testament charts a higher path.

The Sea Nomad Children Who See Like Dolphins | BBC

Children of certain Andaman Island tribes spend much of their time diving for food. Their eyes have adapted to seeing underwater, such that they can see twice as good underwater as 'normal' humans -- as do dolphins and porpoises. Experiments with young European children demonstrated that they, too, could get their eyes to make the adaption needed for better underwater vision, but that adults' eyes can no longer make the necessary accommodations.

    Interesting story [IMG]

Maybe only children are able to this adaptation because they've been in amniotic fluid for so long, and/or children's lenses are more flexible to enable growth of the eyes, just guessing here, a pity they lose this special ability when they grow up.

    Also a big pity . . . :(
It happened to Schokland too . . .
1 Correction there; it was due to severe storms that the island was shrinking by land eroding, and also the island was sinking2 into peat underground layers, see the Dutch version for some info about it at ---> Geology

2 For the Islanders this was equal to sea level rise . .
