There has been no definitive answer to what went wrong with Campbell's boat.

Cobb's crash is widely believed to have been a structural failure from the forward planing surface being overstressed.

 

Story I heard at the time (and believed by the 'locals') he possibly hit something like a small branch, water was checked before run but....... (it happens)

 

Something took my attention, about this Earthrace.

But they don't talk about the other one....(??)
Diogenemarine is developing a new series of wave piercing trimarans, the C-Rex, backed by Craig Loomes Design and Dag Pike as consultor.
I'm surprised. Anybody knows what's happening?

If you go through Craig Loomes's godawful website, eventually you find:

Wavepiercing Trimaran
The grey test model pictured was funded by Diogene Marine of Mauritious to prove the concept for an 20m recreational vessel and a 53m passenger ferry respectively.

Essentially a single wavepiercer demi-hull, with small stabilizers, early work on efficiency and stability is encouraging and development continues. The model has been fitted with acceleration data logging equipment so that comparisons can be made with similarly sized planing monohulls and catamarans in a known sea state.

Further provisional design work is under way for a local client on a vessel of 22m length for a round the world speed record attempt, before retirement as a distinctive charter venture. Visit Earth Race's website for more details.

hey guys i vote we all put our money toghther and buy a set of rockets from nasa strap them onto a small dingy and go for the around the world record ourselves

in that case i vote we strap safewalrus into the dingy with duck tape before we turn on the rockets anyone wanna start taking bets on how long he will last

If you take a look at most commercial air craft , they all look alike.

The reason is they all try for the same goals , cheap to keep at .80mach, low maint and simple pilot skills.

Is it a wonder that all the boats designed to attempt a similar stunt look similar?

Aint copying , its engineering the same problem.
