    I don't like paying for hype, but the real question here is overlooked in almost all discussions on cheap boats.

    How much is your time worth?

    If you want a hobby then the point is moot but use the best materials for the job at hand bearing in mind that a Rolls Royce will get you to the shops but a Toyota is all that you need.
