I'm going to be painting my trimaran this spring. I'm still deciding on paint. I have an automotive hobbyist grade HVLP system and an air supplied respirator. The boat will be inside the shop during painting. I'm considering the EMC2 paint since they call it repairable. I'm planning on boat modifications in a year or two that will require some repainting. I was going to use automotive acrylic urethane single stage paint since the spot painting is easy. How about the EMC2 for spot repair? Is it easy to do with EMC2?

    Hi Eric,

Yes it blends well. We had a demo panel in royal blue (dark colors are harder to blend) and we blended in so you could not tell it wasn't all one application. It's a good idea to have a generous base coat so when you go to blend later you do not sand/buff through.

I am a distributor for EMC quantum paint and would be happy to help with any questions you have.

Joel, I'm ready to buy paint for my project. Do you have a coupon code you can share with me? Post or PM if you do! Thanks!

I think there may be a problem with the way the coupon code was set up. When I put a gallon of Quantum in the cart and apply the code it errors saying the qty is 1 but needs to be 250.

I have some questions regarding application of the paint. I can heat my shop and its nice and dry inside, but to spray I need to open the garage door to keep over spray from dusting other items in the shop.

What is the best method when painting at 45-50 degrees F? Should I add the accelerator or just use the fast reducer? Are there any drawbacks to using accelerator? Spraying is going to produce better results than rolling?

I will fix the coupon code, but code "csc" works and is the same discount.

45-50 is at the low end of temperature range for painting. So long as the hull surface is warmer, then your ok. Spraying, if your set up right, has a better potential for perfect finish than a roll job, but rolling is a whole lot easier if your shop isn't .

I would absolutely use accelerator with those temps.
